Since there are a lot of posts telling Charlie and Eddie how to run their show, I thought I would go ahead and fish this creek, too!
My idea is for Q16, SP, Pro, and Sportsman. There are only four event weekends, so the suggestion would be to run a full race on both Saturday and Sunday. If Saturday is rained out, run for double points and money on Sunday. If Sunday is rained out, give Saturday's winners double points and money.
Of course, anyone who won on Saturday would be doing a rain dance, but this would help reduce the complications of carrying the event over.

Great idea, the IHRA has been doing double events. The racers are already there, go ahead and have 2 races, chances are you should get at least 1 race in each w/e.

Would this mean that each Chrysler Classic weekend would be double the cost now or am I reading this wrong?

This is just my opinion but, if you turn an already expensive weekend into a MORE expensive weekend car counts are gonna drop even more.
Most guys like myself just like to do some fun test and tuning, a $20 Gamblers race, and a full race on Sunday. The big buck Gamblers races need to go, they get hardly any cars show up to the lanes for it so everyone is just spectating.
I know several of you that race alot and win alot are gonna want 2 full races for the weekend but most guys are trying to cut costs right now. I didn't go to the Mopar Nats last year because of the hotel cost and right now I'm trying to get rid of the cost of race fuel, maybe E85 or water injection or less compression...............

Im with ya PROSPORT...... I like gamblers races on friday and saturday night that only cost 20.00 bucks if you want to play. If you dont want to spring for the 20 bux you still get some extra time trials. On a two day event you would be lucky to get 2 time trials in. anyway i go for fun and to see all you guys not chase points

As I recall, when they did a double points race, Sat was a lower entry fee/ lower payout. IIRC I think it was $110 for Sat and Sun for PRO. Not sure about the other classes.
I like that idea better than a "MOPARS VS THE WORLD" gamblers race.
