Friend of mine is leaving the country and bequeathed his old'n'busted '66 New Yorker to me.
This car is so far removed from anything that I've owned, it's my first:
2 ton + car
Automatic trans
Sedan
Bench Seat
V8
Big Block
Mopar
etc...
...and I'm quickly falling in love.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO4B8vkgh6ohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Asn0vzSllPwI've put about 200 miles on it since it has been under my care. The transmission (A727) doesn't like to shift out of 1st until it has warmed up a little and won't shift into 3rd until it has completely come up to temp. After putting ~100 miles on it in one day, the transmission last all motivation, forward or reverse, until the car sat for a bit and it came back. Tried to drive the car last week, and the transmission was slipping quite a bit. Turned the car around in the neighborhood and parked it. Looks like rebuild time!
Bought an A727 manual/rebuild guide, so hopefully it will be here next week so I can see what I'm getting myself in to.
