Is there a fender tag or broadcast sheet code that dictates when the 71 Challenger R/T got the 'R/T' decal on the hood?
Or was it standard with the 'R/T' package?
I don't know of any V stripe code for it.

IIRC it was part of the R/T stripe package, V21 hood black out w the R/T cut out was optional as well

So if you had a V21 option it wouldn't necessarily have the R/T cut out?
What option gave you the R/T cutout ?

If the car had an R/T stripe the decal would match the color of the stripe, correct?
What if it was an R/T with no R/T stripe, would it still be standard? Then what color would it be?

IIRC the "R/T" hood decal was only available in black or white to match side stripes

And if you "deleted" the stripe package, I believe there would be no hood R/T (unless V21 was optioned) you would then get front fender R/T emblems

Ok so if V6X black side stripes and black hood R/T decal, if V6W white stripes and white hood R/T decal.

The 1970-71 collision parts book lists one part number for the R/T hood decal - no color choices listed.

I don't know how trusting "collision parts books" are?, I have one Mopar 67-71 collision parts book that has pn#'s for 70-1 Challenger rear window louvers, one PN# for "standard" rear window louvers and another PN# for "SE" models??????...I like to see a set of those...Hmmmm


But in regards to the R/T decal color...some will say black was the only choice, yet other sources say Black and white being the only choices?


here's a supposedly original Mr Norms Hemi Challenger, and one of Alan Galant's recent restos, and Alan is usually a stickler for keeping the car "original" in it's original as built/ordered form
