Hi,
I've been wiring and setting up my new Mercedes fan for the summer, but I'm having an issue. I purchased the control box and wired everything up like the instructions said and nothing happened when it got up to temp. I tried to test the fan like a previous post stated, but it wouldn't come on. I've had the fan for several years and it was pulled off a car in the junkyard. Is there anything that I can do to fix the fan or am I going to have to buy a new fan?
Thanks, Tim

I tried to "hot wire" the fan by jumping one of the small wires to the main wire that ran to the battery post and grounding the other main wire, but no luck. I get a small spark that jumps when I hook up the main wire but the fan doesn't make a noise at all. It never smoked either. I'm pretty sure it is the fan. Mine is the one that doesn't have to have the control box. The fan spins free and I don't see anything wrong with it externally. Looks brand new really. I guess it would have to be that internal module made into the shroud the or the motor. Any ideas on how to test that, and are those replaceable? Cost effective to just buy a new one of Flea-bay?

Touch the trigger wire to power, and after 3-5 seconds the fan should kick on.

If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

I'll do a little more testing this weekend just to be sure.
I remember that when I first bought my fan, the controller box wasn't out yet. Now that we have that, I think I can run the reproduction fan. What year fan would you recommend when running the controller box?
