Prepping the Demon dash for paint (doing a color change...brown to black). What paint should I get for this (flat, satin, etc)? It doesn't need to be 100% perfectly original just looking for what most folks use and is easy to spray.

Also, what should I use on the inner door panels?

The metal on the doors of my old 71 dart were a fairly glossy black. The black paint for the dash frame and steering column is weird. It has no gloss to it and almost has a light texture to it.

Some of these colors might be obsolete, but you can take them to a paint store and ask anyways. They might have a modern mixture that is the 'close enough' your looking for.

The correct dash & column finish is generally called "suede". If you just want to rattle-can it, there's a "textured" low-gloss black available - Home Depot, etc. It's almost impossible to refinish the top of the dash with the windshield in the car, though.
The door interior surfaces were originally gloss.

Thanks. I think I am going to spray it with my HVLP gun (for practice).

I actually have the dash out of the car as I am refinishing the entire car.

9388 is the correct black for the interior. I can still get the original paint here in KY. It can be had in enamal too if you can't get lacquer. There's no texture to the correct paint.

Would this also be the correct black for my 70 Challenger dash frame?
