What is the best/correct way to attach the wires of a manual remote control side mirror from the 60´s to the knob on the inside?

Regards

The manual cable adjust mirror has three wires in individual cable housings that attach to the toggle switch.

I think those wires are supposed to be permanently attached by the factory with no provision for repair and no repair parts, unless you can duplicate the factory methods. Do you need photos of a working assembly? I can take photos.

Hi guys

Thanks for replying. I don´t need photos. My unit is somewhat dissimilar to the one in the photo above. In my case the three cables have been detached from the housing. I am afraid that I will break them when trying to put them again into their respective sockets because I have to pull very hard on them. I thought someone here knew how to put the wires into their sockets without having to pull very hard.

As mentioned, that is not usually considered a serviceable part.
Being your across the pond, I guess you choices are some what limited.
If you have the patients for it, I say go for it.

That metal is kind of soft, maybe you could pry the socket open a bit. Then press them together again once you have seated the cables. Or maybe make a holder and/or put it in a vise, so as to tap them in with a hammer and punch.
Be careful though as it's also old and might be brittle.

If you could disassemble the Mirror housing and detach the wires from the mirror end, you might be able to reattach the wires to the Switch and then reattach the wires to the mirror then reassemble the mirror into the housing...Or...

... buy a replacement mirror/cable/switch assembly that is complete.

I have never taken one apart. I simply found one complete and functional off another car in a junkyard.

not so easy to do in Iceland
But looking for a good one is probably still the best bet.
I've got this one but it's got that stupid blind spot mirror stuck on it.

First thing I would do is try to remove the spot mirror. It's probably held on with double-sided tape. Some gentle prying and low heat from a hair dryer or heat gun outta get that sucker off.
