Any recommendations on where I could buy a complete kit to restore the front suspension on my cuda? Bushings, bearings, brake drums, ball joints, etc. Everything was media blasted down to bare metal, and I guess everything should be painted back to 80% gloss black. I hate to go through and scrounge for each part individually, does someone know how to put a full kit together so I can hand over to a restoration shop? They thought maybe someone had a full kit (like GM), with also replacement bolts, newly plated vs redoing mine.

Also, I have one slightly bent rod, that connected to the K frame, I need to find out who makes replacements for that.

Same for the rear end, need to find seals for them to install, a new differential gasket, etc.

I need some help

Firm feel will put together a kit for your needs, no one offers a bolt kit that I'm aware of. The bent strut rod is very common, probably best to find a good used one, or straighten the one you have in a press. Firm Feel is a sponsor on this site.

Frankly, I would piece one together on the RockAuto site. I've done it that way a few times and order the MOOG parts where available.

thanks for the advice. I just got back to reading this. A friend that's doing a convert conversion is giving me the rod replacement off his project! He also said to maybe ask megaparts could figure out a complete package for me (close in shipping distance to Chicago).

I will call all the suggestions and see who seems the best for me (including prices with shipping).

Not going with poly bushings, heard they squeak (unless you grease them or something like that). Opinions to the contrary welcome.

That's what I did last summer for my 70 'cuda, all Moog parts excepts the shocks. I once bought one of those "kits" and it came in a big box filled with foam packing peanuts, no way to tell what brand parts they were. The best prices were at Rock Auto.

Suspension parts have became a real crap shoot lately. I used to only use Moog or TRW for my suspension parts. Rock Auto or the local parts store is my source.

But the last couple of years 2 things have started to happen that has caused me to just buy the cheap house brand suspension parts. First, the name brand parts that I have always bought now come with a Made in China sticker on them. Now the name brand Chinese parts MIGHT be better than the house brand Chinese parts, but I don't know if they are worth the extra price or not.

And second, in 2 identical boxes will be 2 different looking parts. I guess because of re-boxing.

I would prefer to have the quality US made parts that I have used for decades. And am willing to pay more for them. But it appears that there are no sources left for known-quality US made suspension parts.

There are probably some import suspension parts that are better than others, but how on earth do you figure out which ones they are. The label on the boxes often have no correlation to the manufacturer of the part inside.

Master, again and still

I am going to try mancini racing and just suspension, as other choices (my hemi cuda buddy recommended these). I liked the 'American forged torsion bar' on the justsuspension website, gave me a good feeling I may not get all Chinese made parts. I will try rock auto also.

Although I have yet to receive it, Bill Rolik offers complete kits. I believe they are Spicer Professional Series, and he says that they are complete with bumpers, alignment hardware, ball joints, tie rods, sleeves etc.. Although I am not sure if Spicer is American made, maybe someone could chime in on that. Well if nothing else it is another option. www.billrolikenterprises.com

I use rockauto for suspension parts... as mentioned moog is made over seas with the rest of them now. So your just paying for a name. I don't get the cheapest, but don't waste my money on moog either.

Talked to Bill Rolik, wanted to go with him (he cherry picks the best stuff for his kits), but his source is on hold due to the main company he uses, being bought by someone else.

Hope to have an answer from him next week. I kinda trust him as he has a freaky flying saucer hubcap'd 71 340 cuda like I do (got to start somewhere):). No, really, he sounds like a stand up guy, looking for stuff that matches the look of the original.

Not sure where your finding the overseas Moog parts but everything I have bought in the last 6 months is made in the US.

I just received two new Moog lower ball joints this week for my Cuda. Made is USA. Bought on Amazon and the boxes are new not like old stock.

That is the complete truth. I just went through this with a '70 AMX. First off I have also always used Moog. But if you do any kind of search, there are a lot of people that, in their opinion, are having problems with Moog quality, specifically the boot quality. So I went looking. Based on a lot of conversation with numerous people I had decided on Raybestos Professional Grade. Then I find That Raybestos sold that division to Federal-Mogul, owner of Moog. Now I am seeing comments that Raybestos is going to be nothing other than re-boxed Moog. Where to go next? Apparently the NAPA NCP line, their premium line, is re-boxed Spicer so I bought most of my parts from NAPA. A little more expensive than RockAuto, who I use a lot, but not enough to take my breath away.

Now a lot of what I've said is based on supposition, conjecture, and assumption so if anyone has any contradictory information, please post it. I won't be offended.

The spicer stuff mentioned at Napa sounds like the same stuff Bill Rolik had, and that's what I 'think' just got sold to another company.

Maybe I should order something from Napa now, and see how it looks, and pray its good enough for now.
