I have a head liner that I've had for a while. I need to get it installed in about 2 weeks and was wondering if the installer can get all the wrinkles out somehow. Do they use a steamer or some other method to remove them? Thanks

I had an upholstery guy install a liner in my car last week. every wrinkle came out and it looks great. the headliner I had installed sat folded in a box for at least 13 years while I've owned it.

If they are having problems they will use a steam gun on them, some times they will lay them out in the sun for a while before they put them in. It shouldn't be a problem.

I recently bought one and was concerned about long-term storage. The seller told me to unfold it and lay it on the roof of the car (for as long as possible and in the sun if possible) before installing.

The installer got the wrinkles out of mine w/o problem. I don't know how exactly but no problems.

That is one job I would not like to try myself.

Nobody likes headliner wrinkles, especially on a restoration, but back in the day it was fairly common to see them on new cars; mostly at the C-pillars. That's one reason for the separate sail panels.

I use an iron on a low setting on the inside before installing them.
