These are from a different car but will show you the basic idea. The only guy I know who can do them like this is Stephan Fournier (stephan.fournier@videotron.ca).

The catch and attaching bolts were painted body color but will show paint chips because it was adjusted after paint. WOW Scott I would have never thought it was done like that! Those A-Body's sure are weird no? Is the catch on the lid fully painted and bolts too? Ron

Yes - to clarify - All original 70-later A-body cars I've seen were this way

Just took pictures of an original paint 70 Swinger and they are the same as pictured.
The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

My 69 340 swinger is somewhat of a survivor. Original paint in trunk. Trunk latch is natural as well as striker.
I had a 70 340 swinger and I'm remembering the trunk striker as painted body color.
Would these finishes hold true or 69 A-bodies?
For 69 Barracuda, the hood safety catch and hood latch were both black zinc as shown above, except the long handle of the hood latch on my car was black paint dipped.
The hood striker made of round bar and 2 bolts were painted body color because they were bolted to the hood when the hood was painted. The hood opening spring was phosphated.
The trunk latch and striker were clear zinc plated. Bolts for these were phosphated and unpainted.

On my '69 Swinger, those were all bare metal. Best to clean them well and soak in Evaporust. Once the rust is gone, clean and apply RPM.
