Hello, everyone! How hard is it to put the filler neck into a new grommet into the new gas tank? Any suggestions on how to do it?

Hello, everyone! How hard is it to put the filler neck into a new grommet into the new gas tank? Any suggestions on how to do it? A,B,E body doesn't matter, best thing to do is to loosen the filler neck where it bolts/screws to the body/qtr/etc pull it down slightly thru the trunk floor/gasket, I lube the tank grommet with white lithium grease, as well as the tube end, get the tank up as high as possible to the floor, get the tube started into the grommet, push the tank up into position, it usually helps to have an assistant hold/maneuver the filler tube from inside the trunk, and having the gas tank straps/J bolts hanging in place for a quick hook up, after the tank is strapped lightly in place (leave it a little lose until the neck is secured in place), you should have plenty of room to align the filler tube to the gas cap neck/opening and bolt/screw that together, then tighten the tank straps, making sure that the tank doesn't get drawn around to much as you tighten the straps as that can distort the neck grommet around the filler tube, if you have a quarter/fender mounted filler neck tighten the tanks straps slowly making sure the filler neck isn't distorting the outer skin because the tank is being drawn out of shape Mike

I use go joe or similar without pumice. Something that will wash away. On a runner, install the tank with the grommet in, then do the neck after the straps are tightened.
