I have acquired an uncut, complete e-body dana 60. This rear had been under a few different cars over the years and had no perches.
I just got perches from Mancini.
I need to know if you set the perches on same plane as the machined pad for snubber, or if there is a slight angle to them that needs to be duplicated.
Even though I don't get thru this place that often, I still lurk a little and really appreciate all of you folks and the knowledge you share!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Every one has its own angle. I measure before I replace. In your case I would suggest asking Cass Dr.Differential and I am sure he can give you a number.

As said it'll have a specific OE angle. You might get the car setup & weld em at the particular angle you need to get YOUR vehicle ujoints parallel but in different planes but wait & see what the Doc has to say. I'm in the same situation & am wondering if I should get the leafs as level as I can then set the housing on top of em then tack em so they are parrallel/correct angle or get the pads equal on the bench.

I asked Dr Diff the exact same question, his reply

THEORETICALLY, IF YOU LEVEL THE
PERCHES (44 ON CENTER) WHEN THE PINION IS POINTING UPWARD 8 DEGREES,
THE REAREND WILL BOLT IN THE CAR WITH A STOCK PINION ANGLE.

I had the rearend in the car with desired angle before welding.
Might as well get it exact.

(1) CNXT thank you (2) likely it'll be in (your) vehicle for a long time so might as well get the angle correct WO the use of angle shims even if you weld it to a non stock angle

Wouldn't the perch spacing depend on which car it's going in?

A B and E all have different spacing.

Stock E-body spring perches measure 46" on center. The pinion points upward 7 degrees when the perches are parallel to the ground (bottom of housing).

The poster is talking about the correct angle to weld the perches at not the width apart.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Sorry, forgot I also used the good Dr's 1 inch relocation brackets.
That's the reason for 44" compared to the stock 46".
Bottom line, as stated, set-up in car before welding. Then you can also correct the side-to-side offset these cars always seem to have. Stock rears are never centered on the body, leaving a bigger gap on 1 side and rub on the other when you try to stuff bigger tires in.
