I'm following along to hopefully learn something here. Is the 1053 a steel weak compared to 4340? Whats a used crank of either steel worth? I'd like to eventually build a 3.79" motor one day.
My 3.79 has plenty of runs on it, but has never been hurt, and is standard, so a 10/10 would certainly make it perfect, but a polish would probably do. I listed it in the parts section a while back for 350$ and got zero interest, so I don't know what it might actually "Be worth" or sell for.

I have a NIB P4529715 dated 1992. I have thought about selling it, but if it will only bring a few hundred, I'll keep it for possible future use. As I understand, 1053 is the material used for OE steel 340 cranks and others. Not sure of the limitations of these, but I've spun stock crank 340s pretty high with no issues.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.
