Has anyone had any luck with the part stores flexible exhaust pipes for short term use? I have never used them so I am curious how well they seal.

Thanks

used from the factory on semis and they last many years and miles use a band clamp and it seals great

You said it. Short term. With the correct diameter, and strong steel screw collars (? sorry I don't know the English word for those), they can seal resonably well for a few weeks, or just enough to get you to the muffler shop. And they won't be very flexible afterwards. A friend of mine did just that last year (to connect a brand-mew 408 stroker with headers, to the OEM exhaust line, approximately cut at the safety loop).

Enough to break-in the engine, drive around a little, and head to a muffler shop 80 miles away that made a custom stainless setup.
It could have held on some more.

Yes they are but rot out pretty quick, about two years. We started using stainless pipe but it still only last 4-5 years.

I wouldn't use it on a car.

I might try taking a peice of carboard and taping it to the bottom side of both exhaust pipes that I am trying to connect between. Then trace each of the openings on the cardboard and marking each end for the desired opening diameter, then take the two cardboard templates to the muffler shop. This way the shop has a template of exactly the bend and end lengths that I need so they can bend each pipe to match and at the same time I don't have to drive it to the shop during the Winter weather.
While I am at it I might just have them add a bung to each template for future tuning capabilities.

Thanks for the replies.
