I got a tip to look for LT23585R16 tires, that declare the entire UTQG code, not just load range. When you look, you will find VERY FEW that do. A friend told me that he has had excellent luck with Hankook DynaPro HT. Guess what, they show temp of A. I'm going with those, or Mastercraft Courser R/D, also temp A. The replacement interval on trailer tires has been well documented, but knowing the temp rating can't hurt.

Can't buy good ones for any price--if you are lucky and have 16's the truck tires work--
I have tossed more full tread trailer tires than race slicks it sucks that even in the USA you can't buy a decent trailer tire at any price--
I am reminded of the fact that the year I was born 1957 there were over 100 factory making Levis--last one in USA closed years ago--now I have to buy Deluth trading or Carhart jeans at stupid $$ to have any worth a damn--
Just bought 4 china specials yesterday and hope not to get killed by the highway changing tires this season--

Yeah, ENCLOSED trailer tires suck. I pulled an open trailer, with P type tires for 25 years, and never had a problem. I changed them, 3 sets, at 25,000 miles. The higher pressure changeover, at this income level, would render the car dormant. I'll continue with my friend, Jok's tire choice, and change them every three years.

Keep them covered from the sunlight when ever possible
that kills the tire more than the heat... run the
pressure at max

Trailer tires are a serious risk, but motor coach tires are every bit as dangerous, maybe worse. The motor coaches need them changed every six or seven years and the more they sit the shorter the life. My rig with 295 75 22.5 tires sees maybe 50,000 miles in that time. Funny thing is, over the road rigs get 300,000 miles or more because the tires are in use. Sitting causes the metal cords to separate from the rubber and that is bad. Keep them at maximum recommended pressure. I'm not sure if ultraviolet deteriorates the rubber or not. My understanding is that ozone is the real culprit. 02 will oxidize anything, even people, which is partly why we also age. Loren

The key here is the G rating on those tires. It would be hard to tear those up. As you said, not cheap,but its probably worth it because it could be the last set of tires you have to buy depending on how much you race.
