If I thought this through properly, the springs are there to push the rockers against the rocker stand and to keep them from moving back and forth on the rocker shaft. I am also thinking that springs are used so that you could access the valve springs without removing the rocker shafts (which may require loosening head bolts). I am guessing there is enough compression in spring (I haven't assembled my heads yet) to get adequate access. I think I am correct in this thinking.

So another thought I had was this. If you had a sleeve that could be removable to be able to slide the rocker over, would it not be more desirable than the spring? Of course you would need to be certain that any of the parts used to secure a two piece sleeve would not come loose and fall into engine. But, in theory, would it not be more preferential to have a spacer that could dial in rocker arm side clearence?

Get rid of the springs and go to the collars. Less wear and tear on the stands and rockers.

I think Stage V and Keith Black both offer the proper size collars with a spring steel waffle (not flat, has a curve from the middle out as well as a S in it)shim to prevent the collar from rubbing on the rocker arms Thats the hot set up for all shaft mounted adjustable rocker arms as far as I'm concerned, way better than springs

Yeah. Something like that! Not sure if I will buy. I have everything set up for the springs.
