'70 and later Hemi uses the same starter auto or 4-speed...same starter for all engines.

Please educate me. The 37 Amp alternator is coded on the build sheet for my Cuda but not the starter. What is the proper part number for a 1970 Hemi 4 speed starter? Also is a 4 speed starter different from a starter for a Hemi automatic? Thanks in advance.
The alternator should be a 50 Amp one, standard on Hemi's. the 37 amp is used for all other cars, Part number for the 37 amp is 3438 172. I think that the Hemi one should be 3438 173, can anyone confirm this? The starter, 560 is the same for ALL engine sizes, I actually didn't know that the 560 was also used on Hemi's.

As I know all the Hemi E-bodies got PN 3438176, and will have '76' on the Broadcast Sheet under ALT. I believe the 3438172 is basically the same alternator, except 172 has the single groove pulley (for 440-6 cars) vs. the dual-groove pulley on the 176/Hemi version. I think these were all 37A versions, and while the 172s can be bought the 176 version is darn near impossible to find. As I remember 3438178 is also a dual-pulley, but is the 50A version, for use on cars with A/C. - Wade
