They are "X" heads. Closest one looks like a 1968. The year wouldn't matter for you. Looks like old top fuel heads. Notice the plug tube seals and the 1/2" head bolts. If you flip them over you might see machining for receiver grooves for o-rings. On fuel they will crack first between the spark plug and the intake valve seat. If you keep running them they will crack between the spark plug and the exhaust valve seat. These are obviously old race parts and most likely not worth having.

Thanks for the info. They were advertised semi-locally with limited info and the one pic I posted, for a seemingly cheap price. Sounds like it wouldn't be worth the time & trip to look at them.

All the above is true concerning top fuel heads, however, that does'nt always make them junk. Small cracks between the spark plug and valves are not a huge deal to repair, in fact a lot of them will run just fine on mild street builds with the cracks left alone. Any good machine shop can check them out and give you a condition report (reccomended before purchase). If they have minor cracks, probably worth $500-$600.00, if not, probably $800-$1,100.00ish due to the bigger bolt holes.

Also, concerning dates, the one being a Nov 1968, it most likey came off a 69 or later engine.

FWIW when it comes to old Hemi parts, especially heads, don't even look at used stuff. Go straight to new. The main reason being all the old stuff out there you're going to find is going to be used up junk. Heavily ported, milled like crazy, likely all kinds of cracks. Not worth it IMO.

The wanted $650 for all three. I'm not a mechanic and certainly not knowlegable on hemi parts. If someone is interested pm me & I'll send the guy's phone #.
Thanks for the help,

There's a reason they're so cheap. Your machinist is not going to like the way they look. I guarantee it.

They all look like 559 Street Hemi heads to me. Generally I avoid used Hemi parts but you could have a look at them and check for cracks or other obvious damage. At that price you may find they are worthwhile. I have two junker heads that I am going to mock up on a 440 block for a display engine but I got them for what they were worth (free).

Years ago when there was nothing out there new but lots of used up race junk, I'd take a set of dye penetrant chemicals with me and DP them in front of the seller. There was more than one pair I did that looked like an alkali flat around the valve seats and between the valves and spark plug. You can't be too careful unless you want to collect door stops.
