Just wondering if there is a reason why the right side is molded in black plastic and the left is in grey, both are painted black on the outside. I wouldn't think they would leave it like this from the factory. Or did they?

Guess you're the lucky one. Both of mine were molded in black plastic.

The Cuda's and Formula S Barracudas had black molded plastic grills. They are not painted black as far as I know?

Someone did the switch on you. Like he said, black plastic on Cudas and S's. Gray plastic on the regular cars.

looks to be an original coating on the housing. So the grey ones would have been painted silver?

I just got the grill trim off and it's black under that also so it was a grey plastic sprayed black from the factory no other way to get paint in there.

Next to the mesh grill only, silver argent, mine have no paint under hood side, two sets silver, two sets black in various stages of wear and tear. Back in the day silver ones where easier to find in bone yards then the black ones, so they where just painted to match.
