How much play is too much? When I installed the driveshaft and bottomed out the trans yoke I took a measurement. Installed the joints into pinion yoke and took another measurement. I got 1.180". Is that extra .180" too much? I plan to call Dynotech tomorrow morning, but wanted to see what your guys opinion was.

I push the tranny yoke in all the way until it bottoms out on the output shaft of the tranny and the slide it out 3/4 inch and go from their on the effective center to center length That is with the chassis compressed (weight sitting on all four wheels ) like it will be sitting on the ground, not with the rear suspension hanging down unloaded

Thanks Cab. I did measure at ride heigth. Dynotechs online order form shows 1" for movement. Just not sure if that .180" is too much?

The trans book calls out for 3/4" travel.. when I
bought any of my shafts from Dynotech I gave them
the length I wanted.. 3/4" short of bottoming out

The "bottom it out and pull back one inch" only works with a rear seal that doesn't have the dust boot.

The factory dimension for the 727/833 slip yoke is 3 3/4" from the rear of the tailhousing to the center of the u-joint.

It'll be fine. That leaves plenty of yoke surface to ride in the bushing.

Hi john, Is the yoke dimension in the factory service manual or the parts manual? I have been thumbing thru 1966 to 1969 section 16 and can't find it. thanks, ronnie

The dimension is from the Mopar Performance chassis manual.

thanks john. I know I have seen those fac pics dozen of times on page 185 for autos and page 226 for manuals. the mopar chassis book was right in front of my eyes, but I kept thumbing thru different years of service manuals looking for that info.
