70 duster, FFI stage 3 power steering box.

I keep killing the mopar steering coupler. im now to number 4 in 10k. dunno why, but it is.

I read a few years ago that borgeson or someonw was making a u-joint replacement for these. anyone still make them? any reason not t use them?

I put a regular u joint on 3 a bodies. on my duster when I still had the stock box I cut my stock column shaft to length, ground, and filed it to a 3/4 double D and just used a regular firm feel u joint. ive done each one a little different. but that was the simplest and cheapest way.

No, the coupler isn't there to provide a collapsible feature, that is built inside the column. The coupler is there mostly for NVH and allow for minor flexing between the gear and the column.

It also provides some road feel dampening.

That's NVH, noise vibration, harshness.
