Hey guys, I'm trying to put together what I did not take apart as my car was a 'basket' when I brought it home. I'm going to maybe run several questions into this thread as I discover what it is I need to know regarding underhood wiring...and I'm no expert in this area.

For starters, I have a single horn. Should there be two? I have what I believe is a horn relay, has three prongs on it. Where does this item mount? Any pictures of the horn(s) and relay and how they are situated is much appreciated.

Jeff,

The horn relay is mounted inside the car along the lower horizontal edge of the dash frame.

You should have two horns, both are mounted on passenger side core support. I'm posting on my phone right now, but if no one chimes in with photos, I'll post some Sunday or Monday.

I just did the engine and forward light harnesses on the car last weekend. I will see if I can grab a pic of the relay under the dash

Ok here ya go. Not a good pic but it should work. You can see the parking brake handle in the left lower corner for orientation. the shiny object next to the oval hole is the mounting screw and you can see the gray plug as well as the relay thru the oval hole

And here is the relay. the mounting screw is at the bottom and you can see all three wires pretty decent here.

Hotdog, that's what I need. For whatever reason, the horn relay was not plugged in and two of the wires were jumped. That's one of the only butcher jobs I've seen so far on my original wiring harness.
Thanks again.

I have seen them do that when the horn button in the column fails and they wire in an under dash button instead.

Well since I didn't get a steering column with the car when I brought it home I'm hopefull that the horn button in the one I got is one that works. We'll be finding out when I get some of these loose ends buttoned up and put a battery in the car.

Here's another problem, my regulator is an earlier style which I know isn't right. I got the '70 only bracket that mounts to the firewall, now I need a regulator. I'm hunting around online and all I see are the ones with the funky triangular 3 prong connector. I don't think those are the right thing? What do I need and where can I get it?
Here's a pic of what's at Napa or Autozone typical down below;

Here's a pic of Lonnie's (Hakkarcharger) car which I'm using for reference;

Is that ev2 or fe5? I also have a 4 speed '70 coupe (in fe5), but it is very low on options (none). Between mine and that one, we make up two of 1,336 4 speeds made!

Lonnie's car is EV2 like mine, it's almost like looking at my car when it's done except I'll have a gatorgrain top.
