What's the limit on an aluminum driveshaft. I had DTS make a 4" alum one with 1350 u joints a while back. No problems behind old 496 making close to 700hp. Car weighs 3500lbs and new engine will be making 950 hp. Car is a foot braked E body with 727 and Dana 60.

EDIT.....I was wrong, current driveshaft is 3 1/2 " diameter. 42 1/2" center of u joint to center of u joint...

Car should trap 6800-7000. Ive heard others swear don't use aluminum drive shaft. I think mine has held up good. Put it in and forget it.

3 1/2" aluminum from inland. 3000 lbs. Approx. 2000 hp (on nitrous). Minimum 1.10 60', 9 years old and counting. 8200 trap rpm (1/4 mile).

We put aluminum in every car we finish

UPDATE......I was wrong on the diameter. It's 3 1/2" diameter and it measures 42 1/2 center of u joint to center of u joint.
