The VIN on 1966 and earlier mopars is attached to the driver side front door jamb with 2 rivets. The rivets are prone to rusting, with the VIN tag falling off and getting lost. Is the VIN stamped anywhere else on the body? How do you get a title if the VIN tag is gone?

Actually '67 and earlier. Never heard of the rivets rusting though? The shipping order number is on the radiator support. The SO number is also on the fender tag.

No VIN on the body though. I've heard the SO number is also somewhere on the sheet metal behind the rear bumper on some cars, but I've never found it there.

Spot welded not riveted on the ones I have seen.

Here is a shot of the tag on my 66 Charger. These are pull rivets used here.

65 and earlier are spot welded on with no rivets and I have never seen one "rust" off.

That'll fail a VIN inspection. Back when I bought my 64 300 I thought someone must pulled the rivets out of my VIN tag and was worried it'd fall off. So I put two sheetmetal screws in to hold it. When I went to title it in AZ (original CA car) they failed the VIN cause of it. NOTHING is supposed to be in those holes. I ended up having to get an AZ issued VIN and a bonded title. Even though I had tons of paperwork from the original owner when he bought it new.
