There was an article in the sreetlegaltv.com that covered a tank from Ricks tanks going into his 65 Belvedere with the 340 pump. I think this is the way I'll be going for my 65 Coronet. Fully baffled stainless tank. I'm going to ask about getting it made 2' narrower to keep some of the exhaust heat from it and maybe a little deeper too. Was thinking about putting the Stealth unit on a new tank and cut a hole in the trunk then make an access lid over it but new stainless baffled is the way for me.

Not the best picture but I put the tank up in the GTX today and it fit snug with the original strap. As I had mentioned I use the .5 inch condensed foam/rubber matt from Tractor supply and doubled it to get up above the fittings. I didn't sit it back on the ground yet so no street view but I cant see that it will even be noticeable.

One thing I noticed about the new Tanks Inc. fuel injection tank has a 19 gallon capacity, two and half gallon increase over stock.

Yep, those tanks look great. Only problem is that they only have a few tank designs at the moment for Mopars. Maybe if a few people send them emails they'll get a few more tanks designed for Mopar cars.

Not sure on measured height yet on my ghetto tank, I will cut the hole tomorrow and flange out the area, and measure to the bottom.

Nice welding mopardude, I aint that skilled. I can tell you though I'm not sure there is enough depth in the GTX tank for the assembly I used. Did you consider if the pick up would be uncovered under accel where it is mounted.

Good thread showing lots of options.

What's the advantage of the Aeromotive pump over the "Tanks" unit at 1/3 the price ?? Both flow the same. Both Made by well known manufacturers.

The Aeromotive is pretty ... but that's about it. And its hidden from view anyway.

Just wondering!

Woah! Hold your horses there buddy!! I did not weld that, I had my friend weld it for me so he gets the credit, he is very talented welder!

The instructions state to place that in tank pump in the deepest part of the tank so that's where it was. I looked on YouTube and watched videos of other guys doing in the same spot without issue so I thought I would be good there.

I also like that tanks Inc. fuel tank. It should also work very well and I like the aftermarket universal sender mounted on top of the tank instead. I'm debating if I want to have another recess installed on my tank and mount that universal sender on top as well, what do you think?

mopardude - that looks nice

Was that piece for the recess pre-maid? If so, where did you find it?

That is some really nice work. Good clean metal fab and very nice welding. Looks great and should last a long time. I'll have to check out Spectra tanks. I had not heard of them before.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my '65 Coronet. The tank is only 7 inches deep so if I cut a notch into it then I'm really close to the minimum depth required. I think it might be easier for me to weld a little bump into the floor of the trunk to clear the pump outlets.

Turns out Spectra has new tanks for early B-body cars so that is cool. I didn't know anyone was making early B-body tanks. I'd lot rather weld on a brand new tank than an used one!

The photos on this thread show some very nice products and some beautiful fabricating.
But if you're lazy like me, and already have a working stock fuel system (including a stock mechanical fuel pump), this can be installed in an hour or two and accomplishes the same objectives:
http://www.robbmcperformance.com/products/powersurge.html

Of course, not everyone likes the look of the PowerSurge tank mounted in the engine compartment, but if you don't mind the appearance, and have room for it, it is much easier and often cheaper overall.

That's an interesting option Robb... Wont work for me as I don't have an existing fuel pump... hmm..

Right now I have new fuel tank for my Charger and the leading contender is the Aeromotive kit shown above.

I've priced out all the little bits and pieces and with the exception of the hose (or hardline), its going to run around $780...

The tank I used was a stock replacement fuel tank. Nothing special about it at all.

I'm cheap so I would use the original style if you have a good one. The one in the X was new so I saw no reason to do anything different.

For the record I used a new tank as well since welding (my brother welded the inner ring in place) on a used tank that had fuel in it a few hours ago didn't seem like a great idea.

thank you.

my friend made the recess himself... there is one available at tanks inc, like previously stated, however be careful, i think it comes as shown, a pre-drilled hole for their style of fuel pump mount/top plate. maybe you can order one from them with the holes drilled in it to use the pump kit of your choice?
