You may have looked at the XE285HL specs. for the duration at .050, the XE275HL has 231 @ .050 intake and 237 @ .050 on the exhaust. I have several different motors with all three grinds of Comps XE---HL in them, I put the one you have in a 464 C.I. 440, 3.91 stroke with 4.35 bore with a similar top end like yours. The motor made a little over 500 HP and simialr torque on the local Studka engine dyno at 2500 Ft elevation on Oregon 91 octane non ethanol pump swill This motor doesn't have as much compression as yours does so keep that in mind, I ran it with two different Holley 850 DP also, they don't have annular boosters like the 830 D.P. have and both carbs. where showing rich(11.3to 11.8) on the AFR on the dyno. I'll finish the tune up once the motor is in the customers car with his exhaust system on it BTW, I hate Mopar brand camshafts, you may love that Comp XE275HL Did you degree it in? If so what intake lobe center did you install it at? At your altitude I would probally go to 104 to 107 on the intake lobe centers

Wind the cam ahead to a 100 ICL and you'll get some cyl pressure.

Do you have comparative results with hydraulic lifters?

Another reason I don't like or use them dang Mopar Purple shaft cams, no consistency between the vendors Mopar uses when they shift to the next cheaper cam grinder Lack of quality control has been the demise of many products and companys

cab, of the few mopar cams i've measured i've not noticed an inconsistency. the problem is in the past few years mopar started using a different formula to rate their hydraulic cams that is inaccurate leading to inflated numbers. 284/.484 i measured was 286/.486-108lsa, identical to a racer brown ssh25. i think some of those purple cams are just racer brown clones. surely you remember back when mopar didn't make any cams; they just put a part number on somebody else's. i think when the old racer browm folded up they just repackaged some of those grinds.

Yes and no. I changed lifters primarily to extend the rpm range, which it did. Unfortunately at the same time I changed the exhaust valve diameter which would render the results meaningless.

Yep, I've cam doctored a big block and a small block 284 484 cams and they both came in at 241 @.050 perhaps you had the 280 474 cam because those cams come in at 237 @.050 as I have checked those also, re calibrate and check again

Measured my MP small block 284/484 cam a few years ago

Adv dur @ .006 294 degrees
dur @ .020 266 degrees
dur @ 0.50 238 degrees
dur @ .100 204 degrees
dur @ .200 143 degrees
lobe lift .321"

I remeasured this 3 times, as I was surprised at how far off it was from the rated specs. Seems there is no consistency from one Purple Shaft to the next.

Perhaps a vendor change is the problem, the cams I measured were done 20yrs ago

Thats what I'm thinking. The cam I measured was bought around 2003. The other day I was looking at a Purple shaft that was made in the late80s or early 90s, its definitely not ground by the same manufacturer as mine.
