I'm looking to improve the power and fuel mileage on my 2012 Ram 6.7 Cummins, manual trans. What tuners would you guys recommend?

with emissions off or on? Also i can tell you from first had experience that you better save up for a clutch. our stock clutch is only good for stock power. I could slip mine with my smarty JR on the 40 hp setting not even trying.

There's a reason all the manual trans equipped trucks are derated over the autos from the factory. Read his reply again and let it soak it

my personal opinion is.... delete it all, or leave it the F alone! I also found "back in the day" that H&S seemed to have the delete and tune done very well, and had great customer support. IF you have emission testing..... your probably pretty much screwed. I work on these things daily and to be honest, I wouldn't own a 07-12 6.7 equipped truck. The 13-14 with def are actually starting to impress me again.

maybe I should send you a pm too!

We don't have emission testing here. My old '02 with 5.9 would runs rings around this 2012 6.7. I can't believe this has 350 HP and 800 ft. pounds of torque and seems this weak. There has to be a fix for this. What do you think of the Bully Dog Triple Dog GT tuners? If I bought a used one would it need reprogrammed before I could use it? Thanks for the input so far guys.

well the first thing is the six speed stick trucks do not have 800 foot pounds of torque, the autos have 800 ours are derated to 610 because of the weak clutch and on top of that we are stuck with damn torque management. if you are wanting to do DPF deletes the bully dog gt will not do it. I can pm you a list of tuners for our trucks that will do both if you like.
also if you buy a used tuner please make sure that there truck was returned back to stock tuning before they sell it to you. Because if you don't, you will end up with a high dollar paper weight. my truck has been modded for over a year now and i have not had any trouble with the truck. well except replacing the stock junk clutch.lol

Is the clutch the only weak link? If I upgrade to a HD clutch and pressure plate will the trans be able to handle it? Is the clutch really weak or is the pressure plate weak allowing the clutch to slip? I didn't know the manual trans trucks were detuned compared to the auto trans trucks. My '02 was auto, I guess that's why it had more power than the '12. My son has an '08 with 6.7 auto and that truck screams. Mopar65, please PM me that info. Thank you.

Mopar 65, can you PM me that same list. My 2011 is getting close to the end of it's extended warranty and I would like to turn it into a real truck.

You will need to replace the clutch, PP, AND flywheel to be able to hold the extra power. There is not an HP aftermarket clutch setup to be used in conjunction with the factory dual-mass flywheel. When you install a aftermarket clutch assembly the hydraulics will also need replaced. The factory stuff will not allow enough travel for proper clutch release. It is best to purchase all the needed components in kit form. Southbend or Valair are two of the most popular choices for this upgrade. Before you upgrade, be aware that the transmission will be quite a bit louder. This is because of the solid flywheel design. Be sure you are ok with the extra noise before you do the swap. You can change the fluid from ATF to a thicker manual trans lube to cut down on the noise but may experience hard shifting in cold temps.

I would get an H&S Mini Maxx or XRT tuner. That is what I run on stock or 50hp boost. I get excellent mileage with my 2010 6.7 AT, like 21 MPG highway during warmer ambient temps.

Trucks fine, engines fine, trans is great..... it's just the emission system that sucks it down the drain for me. For me, it's a cash cow. My workload has more than doubled with egr, egr cooler, sooted turbos, etc..etc..etc.. Add crap mpg to that equation and it's "no thank you".

btw the reason the stick trucks are derated is that there is NO power management. That was a "safe" level is which the rest of the powertrain could live. With the auto trucks programming can make/prevent shifts allow torque converter lock up etc.... basically disallowing the user from doing stupid stuff. With a stick you can hook up your 5th wheel and attempt to climb a steep grade in 6th gear, and the programming can't do a thing about it but take some power from the engine, but not enough to where it won't tear the center out of the clutch. We've seen trucks with less than a 1000 miles take the clutch out from driving style.

What I've seen with the 13-14 DEF trucks..... WAAAAAYYYYY longer oil change interval. They can do this because they are hardly using the EGR valve any more

4x4 2500.... I've seen several knocking down 18-22 mpg running empty.... that's what I'd expect with a computer controlled new diesel.

the new trucks seem better at "daily driver" duty. Lets face it....a lot of people cant drop 60K on a truck just to let it sit at home until they need to tow. In my experience the 7-12 trucks were waayyy unhappy doing this duty. It would often cause regen so often you'd have to change oil in 3500 miles. That gets costly. Oil change minder is computer generated by fuel load in the crankcase oil which is a byproduct of the regen process.
