hey --

i recently purchased a NOS set of emblems.
the 440 section is shinny chrome.

I still have the ones I believe to be original and the finish is more of a brushed look.

which is factory assembly line correct ?

I will grab a couple pics at the garage later today.

Got me a NEW Project
1970 GTX 440+6, 4 spd, 4.10 Dana and N96 FE5 (top/bottom) and black bucket interior.
Original transmission and Dana - Engine is a service replacement block.

Body has all stamped #s + VIN/TRIM tag and door sticker. Been hunting like all hell to find the Build Sheet.

garage find, only had 41,850 miles on ODO.

I believe the originals would have the brushed chrome. All the newer generation Mopar emblems seem to have the polished chrome numbers.

Bruce is correct.I assume you bought them off eBay? A seller shows them as being correct brushed finish, but you'll end up getting the chromed version.

Here are some pics of what I think are period correct NOS non-shaker emblems based on the packaging, the brushed chrome, and the paint work on the "SIXPACK". I had a single NOS 440 SIXPACK shaker emblem years ago that had the same features. I was surprised how sloppy the red paint was (especially on the shaker emblem. To me, it looks like they used a hard masking template that dropped over the the raised letters when they applied the red paint. The newer emblems have an almost perfectly applied red paint on just the facing surface of the letters (no evidence of over spray)

You definitely want the brushed look -- this is factory correct on all the shaker emblems -- they all need to be 3 prong emblems too.
