Pretty motor but for that much money I'd rather build a blown gen II hemi and make more power with cash still in the bank.Dave

I think Monte is correct (again). The valve covers are nothing like the 99 Hemi, they look just like the Kaase Ford Hemi (which is not at all like the real original Ford hemi design) with the spark plug locations moved. Morgan's Ford Hemi was just a copy of the 99 Hemi, which was a copy of the Chevy wedge with the spark plugs moved.
I feel if it does not use factory parts, that is with factory part numbers, it is simply aftermarket. Several years back Dodge Pro Stock teams had to come up with another block as the one they were using was the same one used by Chevrolet, even though they were manufactured by an aftermarket company. In today's cookie cutter Pro Stock cars, I suspect even the NHRA would allow all makes to use the same parts, if it was not for sponsors crying foul.
There is nothing stock about Pro Stock.

Danny

Monte your hatred for mopar is obvious.

It's says mopar on the cover it must be one.
Plus it's the new G3 going into the new srt ram. Matt

Before there's any misconception this was a joke.
My personal opinion is that soon everything will become cookie cutter powerplant racing.
Must be getting old cuz even the factory racing is getting bad
Anyway rant is over but it's still an impressive piece. Matt

So what makes it a Mopar?

The same thing that makes every aftermarket Ford and Chevy......a Ford and Chevy.

until somebody comes up with a block and heads to break the 622/655 barrier, its a spot of glimmer for the fast mopar crowd.even if it is a horse with zebra stripes.i am pretty sure they would let you in an all mopar event with it.now, all thats required is to sell your house and move into a van down by the river to buy one....

It all can be done already. Mother Mopar doesn't have any 5" heads out there any longer but plenty of 4.9 Hemi Prostocks ones. Get a Billet Block under that and build a big cubed engine. Or get lucky and find a set of 5" 99 heads and get a 5" billet block and build a 700-800ci engine.

The 5" engine I ran two seasons ago wasn't even a Billet block. It was a Donovan block that came with blank Lifter Galley. We kept it at 650ci (because thats our limit) but it could had been a 700-800ci engine.

I know Goodwin "based" the idea of his "Hemi" heads off the 99 stuff. Both him and Kaase kept working with the Hemi 99 5" stuff after mother mopar gave up on them. My Goodwin Engine is based on a 5" BS and 650ci (because our rules don;t allow larger then 650 or 5"). But the same engine can go 5.3BS and up to 1000ci to match what Sonny is doing. Just need the $$$ have it built.

I would love to be able to swing a Goodwin motor. Maybe he wants to sponsor a drag racer

No...it's NOT. The Chemi has scallops on the bottom of the head, this one does not

Well then do tell how I have that EXACT same photo from 2006> off of Leonards website. I cannot tell you anything about Kasse's engine but that photo has been around awhile. I Know little about either motor except what I have read. Still a cool deal, still like you said an aftermarket aluminum motor that has as much to do with a Mopar as the space shuttle and all that...BUT that PHOTO is nothing new. Kasse's deal I do not know.

Remember when John Force was crowing about his "Ford" Hemi in his Ford Mustang top fuel funny car? You know, the Mopar Hemi with the Ford valve covers?

You mean this pic Todd? The Chevy head is diff on the bottom because of exhaust valve spring location, which requires the scallops. NOW, does it matter........No. They are all aftermarket heads and very similar. But the ones at top of page are not the Sonnys castings
