After watching some videos and looking around, it seems like removing the torsion bar and starter is the easiest way to get the Power Steering Box out of my 440 Cuda.

If I do that, I don't have to remove the battery, radiator overflow, exhaust manifolds or loosen a motor mount and lift the engine.

Anyone know a better way or does this plan make sense?

When I did the one in the Hemi cuda, I pulled the battery and tray, lifted the engine slightly and took the steering box out the top..

I wouldnt think with a 440 and stock exhaust you would have to remove the torsion bar??? ,,,,,,MAYBE the starter ??

Thanks for the response. I will lift the car, remove the starter, take the linkage off the pitman and see what I can do. I can get the torsion bar off in about 2 minutes but I will hold off and see if I can get it out with just the starter removed.

Thanks again for the response.

I wnt the opposite way, manual to auto. Here's the link. I didn't have to remove the torsion bar, but my batteries are in the trunk. You'd have to remove that. I did all this around 2" headers.

A Arms and steering box.

CudaJon, thanks for the post. It sounds like you removed the battery and then lifted the engine to give you the room needed to remove the box. This is what Firmfeel told me as well and they suggested that I may also have to remove the exhaust manifold.

If you can get the Powerbox out putting the manual box in will be easy. The manual box is much smaller. The hardest part for me was torquing the bolts down. Like I said I did this around 2" headers which are a lot harder than the stock manifold. Good luck. My batteries are in the trunk.
