since I'm "back out there" (racing) I made a few orders from Mancini last fall. Even had a couple no hassle returns. I've always liked to support the mopar guys.

It seemed like for years everytime I called I got Wes who is very smart and helpful and nice to work with. About a year ago I called and I feel bad as I forgot who it was I dealt with as it was not Wes this time but maybe Rick ?? Not sure as I forgot but after he took my order he asked for my e-mail which has my handle "383man" in it and when he heard it he asked me if I have a red 63 Sport Fury which I told him yes of course. Well he knew my name as he said he had seen my car on Moparts and he said I get a discount which he gave me as I did not ask for it since I did not know at the time Moparts members got a discount. But it was nice of him to give it to me as I would have not known I could have got it. They have always given me the best service no matter who I talk to. I am always glad to deal with them. Ron

I've spent a fair amount of money with them and always received good service and good advice.

I just bought $400 worth of parts from Wes on Friday. Forgot to ask for the Moparts discount. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/maad.gif" alt="" />

... I have to chime in here & say I am not AT ALL happy with Mancini Racing. I was just going to order some stuff online but the website is so terrible, it wouldn't add parts past the first item. So I decided to call Wes. I was trying to purchase ( among other things ) a set of max wedge air cleaners. He 1st told me they don't have any and aren't getting anymore in. This sounded odd to me so I asked him if we were talking about the same air cleaners. He then went to look and said there were only 2 sets left. I mentioned Moparts for their "discount" and was told that since they were on clearance & won't be getting any more in there was no discount. Then once I gave credit card info, I received no tracking info or anything.

I only mention this because as a sponsor, I expect better. I spent a lot of money in that order.

I posted here recently that their new website was horrible. Much worse than the old version.

Yes Ron Cunningham and Darin, Darin is actually very sharp as well, he took my custom muscle car radiator order earlier, real helpful and took the time to explain everything I needed to get my custom radiator/shroud and hoses. Mancini guys have always been great to deal with.

I've never had any problems with Mancini racing.

I had complained about them on the other post and still think the new site sucks.

Last month I needed some Superformance gaskets and some block hdw so I called them and spoke to Wes. I explained that I hadn't ordered from them in a few years because they never gave me the Moparts discount. Wes took care of me, thanks. They had everything but the small block hdw package, still need to find one.

So what ground your ass the hardest ?
Not getting a discount ? ( on a part that is already in the clearance rack )
Wes making a mistake regarding inventory or part identification ?
The web site ?
No tracking info ?
When I deal with a vendor , I give them a form of payment and they send me product.
The price was agreeable to me before I ordered , and any discounting is just gravy.
Web sites are what they are , and are frequently not designed or maintained by the vendor.
If you can negotiate it , how bad could it be ?
While I am not philosophically opposed to walking down moonlit beaches holding hands and sipping drinks with little umbrellas in the glass with them afterward , I don't need it.
I think some people's expectations border on entitled.

I like Mancini's because you can usually find oddball mopar stuff and the guy on the phone will know what you're talking about. DMI products for example....

...it's the whole package. If a sponsored company offers a discount to members, they had BETTER honour it - hell, that's how race teams have been able to make it. Also, I'd venture to think that the max wedge air cleaners are NOT a discount item they will no longer carry. It's not the discount perse, but the principle of the process, it's that plus the tracking etc... "give me your $ and f-off" kinda deal to me. Sorry, probably never should have mentioned it.

If you want Maxie reproduction stuff start at the source -- Norm Brady @ Crossram Connection. Then work down the chain if he doesn't have it.

Unless he is doing a second run of air cleaners, the only ones left are in vendor stock.

I've a friend who just plumped for a firecore distributor with module inside. It ran great for at least 3 days then packed up, he is just trying to resolve the issue with mancini.
I've used them a number of times and always been happy with the service.

Why not buy from Jegs? (or Summit or whoever)

Because I want to keep the good Mopar-only places alive.

Think of it, they could specialize in Chevy stuff and have 10 times the volume and profits. But they don't. They could specialize in Pontiac stuff and no-one would gripe about the prices, as the Mopar guys do. Ever try to ask a Jegs employee about a part? You're lucky if they know what you're talking about.

This has happened more than once in my life: we go to a really decent restaurant, prices are okay, food is great...Then 5 years later we drive by and see the "closed" sign. Darn, another good restaurant down the tubes. But wait, when was the last time we ate there? You got it, 5 years ago!

A few years ago Freiberger wrote an editorial about the death of Mom and Pop speed shops. Nice piece, except for the last paragraph, where he suggested buying your bigger stuff and commodity stuff from the big box guys and buying the little specialty stuff from the Mom and Pop stores. Yeah, right. Keep doing that and another small shop will turn into a Walgreens. Then who will you turn to?

Oh you pay for the shipping. It's just not a line item on the invoice.

Instead of asking for a thing-a-ma-bob that goes on the whatcha-macallit, do some research and use part numbers. I don't care if I'm going to NAPA for an oil filter, I use part numbers. Stuff doesn't get "messed up" nearly as much that way. If I ask for a 1234 and they give me a 5678, pretty hard to blame me for the issue.

Custom stuff? That's a whole other conversation.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

My local shops stock ZERO Mopar stuff. They, like I, need to order it in from a jobber or Summit/Jegs. Either way I have to wait 2-3 days. Then I have to waste time and fuel money to pick the stuff up.

The main adavantage to brick & mortar is they have the stuff on hand. If they don’t, I have no other choice than to source it elsewhere.
