Which sub frame connectors are best to use on a street/strip car and why?

Currently after a hard pass from a roll on the street my doors get hard to open and want to hang up.

Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat
Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

About 14 feet ( you'll have extra ) of 3X2 X .125 wall rectangular tubing , a couple 4X4X .125 plates.
Chop saw , cut off wheel ( for rear passenger foot well area ) decent mig welder...........BINGO !
I have seen under floor done , but mine don't protrude into the floor too badly.
Butt to the torsion bar cross member with the plates and cut into the front of the rear sub frame and let the tubes run 6" or so into them.
Pretty doggone stiff.
There many ways to skin this particular cat , but I think this one gives the best result.

X2 - the 3" height is where the stiffness comes from.

Take some 2x3" rectangle tube, .100 wall if you can get it, .125 if you can't. You then take your angle griner and slot open the front part of the rear sub-frame. You will find the 2x3 tube slides right in there nice and snug. The tube will protrude through your floor boards in the area where the back seat passengers feet would go. If you trim the insulation right over this it's not a big deal after you throw your floor mat in there. I did my 74 satellite like this and my brother did his 66 charger like this. They both fix exactly the same once we were done.

If you dont want to go through the floor you can still
use the 2x3 but lay it up against the floor and use
a set of dividers and set the dividers 1/8" more than
the biggest gap between the tube and floor... keep the
dividers 90* to to the floor and scribe the whole length..
cut on that line and weld it in (floor and all)... I
normally cut the floor and have the top inside the
car like the others have said

us car tool are really nice, fairly light and they make the car look like a factory framed car when your done, they are cut to the contours of the floorboards and mine required minimal trimming to make them fit, very nice product.

Which year and body style? I've use .083 chrome moly 2x2 square tubing in A bodys and .083 2x3 rectangular tubing for other Mopar cars. if you don't want to cut the floors look at the 2x2, if you don't care look at the 2x3

I'd say 2x3 is the way to go. My 2x2 welded in connectors are bowed up against the floor boards in the 4-speed car.

They do look nice.
Their effects as far as stiffening up the chassis are not even in the same ball park as 2X3 protruding through the floor pan behind the front seat.
Same with 2X2 .......... you are improving the situation for sure.
And it is much easier.
But.............not optimum.

I put Competition Engineering frame connectors in my 67. Bolted in.
Ran 10.70's without a cage or bar for years, driven on the street too with no door problems.
When the cage was installed the diagonal bars were welded to the top of them.
Now runs high 9's and 10.00 and doors still work OK.
I like to keep things simple...

The car is a '67 Plymouth B body, 4 speed car. I'm not really a fab/welding person and was hoping not to cut the floors, but rather buy something and have someone weld it in for me, should have specified. I know its not optimum but should it hold up ok in a car running low to mid 11s with the stick?

Would that leave me with just the Hotchkis or the US Car Tool pieces?

I'll end up with uscartools when I get this done. The hotchkiss one is pricey,!!

Has this car ever seen track time?
How do you know it runs 11's?
I ran 11's back in the day with a stick and didn't have sub frame connectors.

The vertical walls are what you are looking for..
so if you can, get as close to 3" vertical and maybe
.100 to .125 thick
