I have a nice AAR 67 B-Body hood scoop that I want to put on my 83 Cordoba...... It has the built in mounting studs and it looks like a quality piece. My issue is the doba hood is not completely flat. Towards the the very back of the hood (by the windshield), it has a lip and a slight rise up about 3/8". The rise starts about 2 inches from the back of the hood.

If I move the hood forward off the lip it would mount fine with no issues and be easy to do. Unfortunatley, the front part of the scoop overhangs the body lines on the hood so that will not work. The scoop must be mounted right to the back of the hood.

What is the best way to make the scoop fit?? Should I make a cardboard template that matches the amount of hood rise and then grind the scoop to match??? I don't see any other way so I need some help here.... Check out the pic and you will see what I mean. click to enlarge... thanks TBF

You can grind it to fit no problem.

Not that you want to but it's possible to remove a section of that scoop down the middle and narrow it up just enough to get it to fit between the two bumps on the outside of the hood. I have never messed with the stuff, but you can do whatever you want with it if you know what your doing.

just sand alittle at a time with a 90sander and keep fitting on hood till it fit right, wouldnt hurt to make a template to start out with.

Thanks guys.. seems like I am on the right track. I think I will make a cardboard template just to get an idea of the
amount I need to grind. If I can back the scoop up all the way back on the hood there will be no overhang on the front side... I think that scoop looks great on the late model Cordoba. I got the idea from Bubbas Mirada, but toned down just a wee bit! TBF
