Have a 70 Charger.. when going CalTracks, does the front spring hanger need to be the short original one or should the front hanger be the longer SS spring hanger??? I have the longer front hangers and SS springs under the car right now....

Thanks!

/Tom

Either one will work. Just tell Calvert which ones you are gonna use.

PSO headed 632 from MM. Cracked cylinder, loose valve seats, low oil pressure, low cylinder pressure.
..... Now its a door stop....

Thanks for your posts!

Calvert should take some time and update the order info on their homepage. Like just a few written lines would go along way.. this you need to think about before placing your order, ex. if you have stock or SS spring hangers, then these are the part numbers... that way youll get the correct part/s and wont get all off..

Why use the longer front hanger for the shorter SS springs? The shorter stock hanger and stock springs should work better...same reason the fast cars are going to the longer chevy leaf springs.

FWIW...I use stock length springs and stock hangers on my cuda. Been 1.320 sixty foot footbraking at 3800 lbs. on a 295-65 drag radial.

I went w/ the 20" SS front segments because I simply swapped from SS springs to CalTracs using the same length springs. Although they've worked OK, I'm planning to switch back to the 22" front segments w/ some AR Engineering replacement front hangers. If I was swapping "from scratch", I'd definitely go w/ the longer springs, too.

I am going a little different route on my project.
I am going to use a front segment from this kit (if they will sell it to me)...I don't want to have to take the springs out of the truck

http://www.srdparts.com/index.php?page=s...t&Itemid=1.

and I have to modify the existing truck spring plates to accept some mounts I took off a ladder bar kit, because their spring plates don't have the shock mounts I want and I am going to swap the spring plates from left to right so that I can mount the shocks in front of the axle rather than stock behind it. Then I will use the roller kit that I got to anchor the rear of the leafs. It will all make sense when I put it together

How and what is the difference, if the spring length and spring preloadbar is shorter vs. longer?

Thanks

When going to a longer front spring segment, in almost all cases, you move the Instant Center closer to the 100% anti-squat line, which, in almost all cases, is a good thing...

I went w/the 25" ft. segment but havn`t had a good track day to try em out and went 1.46 60 ft. and 6.20 @ 111+ in the summer heat before sliders and vertically mounting the rear shocks..............

I should have been more clear as I meant use longer spring caltrac bar not mount. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes. The longer the front segment of the spring is, the better.

You should just call Calvert and talk to them. Their guys are very helpful and will help you pick what would work best for you and what you want to do.

Does any one use the slider on the rear instead of the hanger
