Hello,

Where have you guys and gals recently bought your torsion bars? Mopar Performance sells them, but their catalog does not appear to provide prices and the smallest diameter bar they advertise for a B-body is .92". I was thinking about going smaller than that (.87-.88") for this application. Firm Feel also sells torsion bars and in the size that I am considering.

About the car (see attachment), it is a 1967 Belvedere II with a RB 500" BB, aluminum heads, aluminum intake, aluminum water pump, aluminum radiator, fiberglass hood, battery relocated to trunk, manual steering, manual disc brakes, etc. The current front shocks are Chassis Engineering 90-10's; no idea how old. It is driven on the street maybe 2k miles a year (tops). We still want some weight transfer, but it currently has 6 cylinder T.B's in it and it bottoms-out on occasion. This is more of a straight-line car that needs to handle safely on the street. Will a .87-.88" diameter torsion bar work (as in not bottom-out, handle safely)? We could always add a front sway bar (currently doesn't have one) if necessary.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Mopar isn't making bars any more but you can sometimes find them on web sites and auction sites.

Talk to the guys at Firm Feel. They can recommend a nice combo of t-bars and s-bar for what you are after. They do make a .88 and offer a .94. The .88s with a 1.125 front sway bar wouldn't be awful for a street ride since that is close to a factory 383 size. Personally, I'd go with the bigger .94 rate for street driving plus it makes the car much more consistent on track day.

Firm Feel can get you anything that you want including custom diameters and used factory torsion bars.

I'll look through my stuff and see if I have a set of 383 bars. I'm in Niwot.

I bought mine from Mopar Perf last year. Car is pretty much the same combo as yours. I had the factory 318 bars in and felt it was too soft for me. I went with the .960, not the hot set up for racing but i like the ride on the street.
What tires are those on your car I love the look.

The wheels are 15x4.5". The tires are 15x7.75 Coker redlines:
