I had a neighbor ask me today where he could get a carb for an 86 dodge p/u with 6 cyl. My first thought was napa but he said they were over $200 and was looking for a good used or rebuilt for something less than that. Any ideas?

List a parts wanted ad here on Moparts. Several people on here can help.
I needed a carb for my /6 Dart a few months ago and lucked into an original, untouched, 37k mile carb.
I took it out of the box, cleaned it up a bit on the outside, bolted it on and have not had any problems with it.
IIRC, I paid around $75 for it, including shipping.

RockAuto is $169 with a $30 core. If its a truck of any real use and the current carb is beyond rebuilding then $200 would be money well spent.

I used a carb off the 318s from the graveyard, rebuilt it and it worked.

I think the best approach would be to place an ad in the parts wanted and try to find a good carb for rebuilding and buy a kit for it.
Thanks

A 6-banger is a one-lunger, yes?

Slantsix Dan is selling NOS slant carbs over on www.slantsix.org 1bbls and 2bbls. He will tell you what will work and what won't work.

Single barrels yes....but who uses those anyways?

They perform better with the super six setup and even better with the 4bbl setup from Offy. You have to be pretty well built to carry the 4bbl. My old 70 Dart went from the single bbl to the 2bbl 500cfm Holley, to the 4bbl 390 Holley and then eventually since she was stout she took the 4bbl 500cfm Eddy.
