I am trying to go from stock drum brakes on my 74 Scamp to aftermarket race brakes for my 8.75 rear end. I currently have Strange 35 spline axles. I have tried Wilwood 2.36 offset and now aerospace 2.29-2.45 offset and the hat/rotor still hits the caliper mount. I measured my offset and I have 2.1375 offset. I called strange engineering and they said that they do not make an a-body axle that would work for this application to get the right offset, they said i'd have to get e-body axles made. I cant be the only one in the world that has ever tried to do this and ran into problems. I have a stock with a-body 8.75, spring re-locator kit using Bogart Racing 10" wheels with a 7 3/8 back space.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you mean standout? Stock A-body standout is 2.25" measured from the end of the housing to the outside of the axle flange.

I mean the axle offset, measured from the outside axle housing flange to the outside of the axle face (hub)....i checked it with a digital caliper and it is 2.1375 (Deminsion F on the strange order form) http://www.strangeengineering.net/website/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Axle-Order-Form.pdf

Has anyone used aerospace disc brake converting from drums on an a-body and if so, how did u get the brake hat/rotor to caliper brake right?

The fact that the axles are in an A body rear may be the problem if you ordered the 35 spline axles for an A body housing. I thought the bell drum design and backing plates used on the 8 3/4 A body housings (4" bolt pattern)was an oddball all to itself. I would call or p/m Doctor Diff. If anyone can hook you up or at least let you know whats wrong it will be Cass.

The common term for that is "standout" and yours isn't consistent with any factory dimension....A-body SBP standout is 2.25" and BBP is 2.500".

Wilwood and other companies do not design rear brakes correctly for Mopar applications. They consider axle flange stand out to be 1/8" less than what it actually measures because they never took into account the thickness of the drum brake backing plate when they "designed" the caliper brackets.

In other words, 5 x 4" bolt pattern A-body axles measure 2.1" from the inside of the wheel bearing snap-ring, to the outside of the axle flange. This is what they mistakenly call "offset".

BTW, as far as I know, I'm the only source for a rear disc brake kit that fits Mopar axles with 2.225" stand-out.
