What are you Cal Tracs/ split mono leaf guys setting your pinion angles at? Last leaf spring car I owned had a wedge that set it at -3 degrees when at rest. Thanks for any help!

Calvert recommends 2-4 degrees nose down on the pinion I believe but of course the trans angle comes into play. Here`s my set up; Trans yoke is at 0 and rear end yoke is 4+ nose down so I have exactly that. What do you have now?

Yeah, trans angle and pinion angle should be equal and opposite for best result. When the ends are not parallel, you get binding and you lose a little bit of power. With leaf springs, and a lot of HP, you're supposed to dial in a huge amount, even up to 6 or 7 degrees, simply because of how much wrap you get under launch. With a more rigid setup, you can get away with far less, like 1-2.5.

I'm no expert, but I've been reading up on this lately

I shimmed in 6* at first with my Calvert setup, but encountered bad vibration. backed it down to 3* static, and all is well. I'm at 1* downward at the trans output, and 2* downward at the rear yoke, for 3* total. Feels good on the street, and is fine at the track. I typically have about 2 flats of preload in the bars.

I'm just starting my build. I will be using a Dana and I was wondering where to place the leaf spring pads on the rear end in reference to pinion angle. Trans will be in stock location. Soon as I get started I will do a build thread.

I have split-monos and Caltracs on my Dakota. I kept experimenting with mine until it started to come around and hook more. That ended up being -6° nose down. Admittedly that's counter to "group think", but it's what's working on mine. Sometimes you just have to try things to figure out what works for yours.
