Yeah, trans angle and pinion angle should be equal and opposite for best result. When the ends are not parallel, you get binding and you lose a little bit of power. With leaf springs, and a lot of HP, you're supposed to dial in a huge amount, even up to 6 or 7 degrees, simply because of how much wrap you get under launch. With a more rigid setup, you can get away with far less, like 1-2.5.
I'm no expert, but I've been reading up on this lately

I shimmed in 6* at first with my Calvert setup, but encountered bad vibration. backed it down to 3* static, and all is well. I'm at 1* downward at the trans output, and 2* downward at the rear yoke, for 3* total. Feels good on the street, and is fine at the track. I typically have about 2 flats of preload in the bars.

Calvert recommends 2-4 degrees nose down on the pinion I believe but of course the trans angle comes into play. Here`s my set up; Trans yoke is at 0 and rear end yoke is 4+ nose down so I have exactly that. What do you have now?
I'm just starting my build. I will be using a Dana and I was wondering where to place the leaf spring pads on the rear end in reference to pinion angle. Trans will be in stock location. Soon as I get started I will do a build thread.
