Hi guys

Anyone knows the correct part number for a 72 Roadrunner GTX with aigrabber 727 transmission? It's a june 72 production car.
Would the 3515848 ok or does it have to be 3516868?
I always thought it's the 3681057 but now I am unsure... that number is written 72 440-4 280HP with damper weight provision. Would that be correct for my car? I mean, was it possible that Mopar installed this or no way?

Thnx

For a June '72 build I would expect to see the 3681057, the 3516868 is for a standard performance 440 in a C body or truck.

And what about this vibration damper provision? My 72 RR didn't have that as much as I know?

I ask because a user at roadrunnernest has a june 72 RR GTX and wrote this:

"There was a little confusion on my part due to the fact the transmission in my car is an "early 1972" despite the fact my car was built late in the production run. (June 1972) I guess due to the small number of 440 A/T cars (458) built that year the "early" / "late" designation was a little misleading. The number on my transmission is 3515848 (only 5848 is stamped into the case)"

That's what made my confusion on the 057 and also because of the vibration damper that my b-body didn't have...

There is a difference between having the damper weight provision and actually having the weight installed.

Since the weight was introduced in '72, it's quite possible that the tailhousing with the weight provision was installed on transmissions that didn't need the weight. And there's the obvious possibility that the tail was changed in the 30+ years the car has been around.

this I understand, but the part number on the transmission is different and this fact makes me ask what part number would be correct for a 72 RR GTX with a 440 HP engine. Or did Mopar install any type of transmission they had in stock like on this user above on his late 72 RR?
