So where can I get them? I heard they repoped them so they can fit on the current generation of edlebrock carbs? So who makes them?

For the absolute best powder coating go to J.I.T powder coating, contact infomation is in my personal profile..

Phil Newcomb of Hemispherical Productions (SLC Utah, formerly in S. CA) had them made, they are easy to ID as they have "HP" cast into the top (his company initials). They do not look exact to originals in either shape or finish but are close enough for clones. I do not know if he sells them sepperately, I think he only offers them as complete clones only, I've never tried to order any because I just find good used originals to use as cores for my Hemi clone carbs. If you are building Hemi clone carbs you'll need correct tops as well as correct side linkage which is Hemi only, the factory welded these on to the shafts (as I do), so making clones is doable for a "Do It Yourselfer" but it's not a simple top swap, nuts and bolts deal as many might imagine.

I will tell you this much, he and I are on good terms and have met and talked at length multiple times (consider us to be friends if you will) and even at that it's usually absalute murder to get him to ship anything you order, even after multiple promises (and failures) of doing so. I just don't know what his deal is anymore, I like the guy but he is probably the poorest communicator I know in the hobby......Just a fair warning!

Here's a pic of what mine look like, this set has the optional electric choke

Phil Newcomb sold/made some at one time. Newcomb's Hemispherical Products. Don't know if those are still around.

if you are looking for just the top because of the smaller throat/air cleaner mount. do what i did to mount mine to a hemi shaker base plate.i went to a salvage yard and found one one off a 60's buick and one in thier carb pile.then bead blasted both tops and trasfered floats, metering rods etc. they worked out just fine.i also had to make the choke linkage from auto to a manual because it was reversed on early carters.just a thought. thease carbs were used on a lot of 50's 60's cars buick, cad's etc.

This is true, in fact most of my core tops are GM in origin, it's almost manditory because Mopar didn't use many with the right configuration for non hemi applications, but as noted, it's not just the tops that you need to make Hemi clones, that is just the beginning.

Scott i have seen your carb work and it is top shelf all the way. four years ago i got a hemi shaker kit from a guy in the northwest area. he sold me 2 plastic "adapter rings" that he claimed would make the baseplate fit modern edelbrocks.well lets just say i wasted my money on the adapters.since i was not out to make this a correct clone but one that was fit and function was my goal thats all.
by the way a year later i spoke to you at vegas mats. and saw your cuda hood conversion kit and i wished yours was avilable when i was looking for one.the trim ring alone would have saved me many hours of sanding etc.

Newcomb has not changed his MO one bit from 15 years ago. Makes great products, promises immediate shipping and months later, you are still waiting. If he had any business sense, he would be a millionaire!

I'd reccomend a new method since e-mails and phone calls never get returned...Maybe send him a teligram or possibly Pony Express?

He now lives in Utah. The best way to try reaching him is through ebay. His seller name is blinginhemi or similar.

Scott, will an older AFB top (airhorn) fit the new production edelbrock 750 and 800 carbs? I may end up going with new carbs and losing the progressive linkage too, but I still want the chrome dome air cleaner I paid way too much for to work. If so I wonder if the smaller throat saps or restricts the performance of a 750 or 800 much?

Won't work,if it would there would have been no reason to cast a replacement top .

Some of the old AFB tops (non Mopar applications, most are GM) work on modern EB bases, but only some of them, as the early 60's GM cores dry up finding them is getting tougher and costlier, they fit 1405 & 1406 EB AFB's and possibly others.
