Anyone have any experience or knowledge of the Comp Cams Shaft Rocker Arms for Indy 440-1 (Or Indy 440-C) heads? Generic pics make them look awfully similar to T&D.

Reason i ask, I run large diameter valve springs in a pulling truck, with Indy 440-C heads (makes Jesel outta question), and am leary of grinding on T&D rocker arms after spending the $.

Your thoughts?

T&D makes two different rockers for 440-1 heads. The single shaft per head, factory style; and the individual shaft per cylinder style (like Jesel). From what I have read, the single shaft per head style has issues with some large diameter valve springs/retainers. I run the individual shaft per cylinder style with 1.63" dia springs, 1.65 ratio, and the rockers clear everything just fine. They were setup by BEST Machine and use lash caps, FYI.

Thanks for the responses. I have been told my multiple builders that machining the stands off the cast iron indy 440-1 heads is a no no due to fact their isnt enough material for thread engagement to prevent jesel or paired t&d shafts from pulling out.

Worried grinding bodies will weaken t&d common shaft rockers. Some say yes it will, some say don't worry. $1200 plus pushrods does worry my wallet. Ha ha.

We got a man on the moon, so surely there is an answer.

I run the Comp Cams paired shaft rockers on -1s. Hardcore B runs the comps. Both appear Identical. This is what I was told by T&D as well. The springs are 2" installed height and 1.625" diameter. Both Hardcore B and myself have relocated the rocker stand .060"closer to the valve by offsetting the mounting holes and installing Keenserts. We felt the valve tip was to far towards the intake side of the valve. Mine clear with no grinding but are close. I have nicked a couple of rocker arms when I broke springs. Only .010"-.015" deep small scratch.
