I replaced the two barrel Carter carb with the Edelbrock performance series carb, 600 cfm. The current setup is a Chrysler stock 4bbl intake, the Edelbrock carb, with the Chrysler throttle adapter. My problem is the throttle cable hookup. Does anyone have a picture of the throttle and kickdown linkage going to a Edlebrock carb? The engine is a 383 setting in 68 Charger.
Thanks Joe

This is the best I've got, It's a Carter AVS on a 383 with a Torker2 intake.

you would need a 4bbl throttle bracket(or cut/modify yours), not sure if you need different kickdown linkage(s).

You may have to lengthen the kickdown linkage a bit as stated already but that's easy enough. here's my same pic but close up if you're looking for proper location of the linkage. Good luck!!

So the throttle bracket for the 4 bbl setup is different from the 2 bbl setup? Can you order the 4 bbl bracket from someone to fit the Edelbrock performance carb? Joe

yes they're different & a 4bbl one would fit all 4bbls. Mancini has them new or you might check the parts section or place a wanted ad in there.

Would the kickdown linkage be different as well or would it interchange from the 2 bbl throttle bracket setup to the 4 bbl setup???

That I'm not sure on Joe as I haven't gotten that far yet on mine yet but I believe a prior poster stated that that some of the kd pieces are different.

the kickdown rod is different and a good chance the throttle cable will be too short.

Good grief. Nothing comes easy on this project. I have to stop again and try to find the correct parts which will take another few weeks. Thanks all for the pics and replys. Joe

Hmm, I'm in the same boat. I also went to a 4bbl from the stock 2bbl, and jerry-rigged the kickdown linkage. It works, but not very pretty, and doesn't have quite enough adjustment. In my case the throttle cable was plenty long enough.

Does anybody know if this kit from Mancini will work on a 318? It sounds like it will work with the stock KD linkage, which is nice.

I just found a 4 bbl throttle cable bracket from Jerry Dempsey in Starke, FL. He's an old Mopar Guru. Its kinda like Weedhopper going to the Old Kungfu Master and asking him questions. If you need his phone or address, I will gladly give out. Joe

Back in the day when there was a lot of these swaps going on Holley made an extension piece for the linkeage, it was a female/male rod that screwed on to the existing rod and allowed another 1 inch or so of adjustment.
You can also cut and lengthen your existing rod, it is case hardened so you may need a cut off wheel to cut it.
Also as you have found the cable is too short. Mopar still sells them.

Yea, he's high on his parts but you can't get them just anywhere anymore. And when folks like him pass on, where will we obtain the parts??? or the knowledge??? Joe
