Hi,
I have a 1970 GTX with a blue interior that needs some touch up. I am going to change the lower dash trim and need to match the interior color. I know SEM sells the paint but need to know which color to buy. The car is B7 blue and I think all the blue interiors are the same.

Thank you,
JOe

Are you painting the metal or the plastic?
I think the color interior would be B5.

Not going to find any SEM which matches B5. Other choices for plastic: have local auto paint store mix a can of B5 or try the B5 repro like this. For steering column and dash use suede from Instrument Specialties.

That is not good. Maybe I should just paint it black.

A zillion cars have black interiors. How many blue interiors do you see? The blue interior really pops. It will make your car that much nicer. There is only one blue for the interiors on 69 B-Body cars. It's B7. I believe it's the same color for 1970 B-Body cars.

Another. The interior is original and unrestored. The carpet is dark blue.

My Car actually has a white interior and dash and headliner is blue. Car is B7 blue. That is the original color. I just need to paint one of the dash panels that I need to change because it is cracked.

Joe, your interior is beautiful in white and blue, worth it to keep it like that IMO. You may have to go to the paint store and have them mix interior paint to get the right color. Remember, thin coats so you dont fill up the plastic grain and make it smooth.

I used DuPont interior paint that was custom mixed at a automotive Paint store. It ,matched perfectly for a Blue 70 Challenger RT interior. I believe DuPont was bought out by Axalta so I'm not sure if they still market paint under the DuPont or now under Axalta. You'll have to check with the Auto Paint Store.
Get their plastic primer too for use with the paint.

Good luck

The only way you will get close to a match is to take your cracked piece to the paint store and have them mix to match it.

Used the paint that Herbs sells in a spray can on my car. Its a 69 Coronet vert but same idea blue and white. No way I would trade it for a black interior.

I have a blue interior to redo soon as well.……were you happy with the paint from Herb's?

Was the color match and satin finish close to original?

Thanks

I was happy with the finish and the color. Though I am by no means a purist or expert.

My GTX came from the factory with the same blue interior. When I purchased the car looooooooooooooog ago it had been swapped over to black. Since I don't have a build tag and I drove and raced the car for decades in black for the moment black is where it is going to stay.

I do consider setting it back to factory blue but for me there really is no point in doing so.
