Lenny at Ultimate, I have three of them, two eight inch T/A converters redone by him for 11secdart and the lockup one in my truck. ( lowered 60ft a tenth in the truck) My friend had a bad experience with a Coan trans in his Brand X car and their customer service was horrible regarding the matter. He built a sturdy wooden crate to ship the trans in , they returned it in a cardboard box hence the trans got damaged in shipping they would`t do anything. So Coan

+1 for Ultimate , and I haven't even made a real lap yet.
The level of service before the purchase and it's performance while shaking the car down on the street tells me I done good on this.

I've had two of them, 8 inch and 9 inch 069J, both built for 727 and the old NHRA SS/AA Hemi motors. I used them in my 518 C.I. pump gas motor on the street and strip, the 8 inch would flash stall to 5400 to5600 RPM, depending on track elevation and weather conditions. It was way better(.2 ET and 2.5 MPH) at the track and on the street than the custom built 10 ich converter I broke in the car I've had a bunch of bad converters and only several real good ones, both T/A are good

Any ideas on what I should ask for or just give them all the specs of the car and the intended use and hope for the best?

Call any of the conv companies and talk to them on
what your looking for and all the specs of the car
and the engine... a dyno test on the engine does wonders

My limited experience on engine dynos has not been good.Seems that the dyno has a hard time simulating load because when I put the motor in the car I had to re-tune.I have installed a wideband o2 in my car to help me along and has been a big help. Its another tool in the tool box,i don't live and die by it.When at the dragstrip it seemed that the fatter I made it the faster it ran so that's my dyno.

Years ago I had a 10in. GER convertor and they have a bad reputation. I bought a Coan 10in. race convertor and put in my Demon and slowed down a 10th in the 1/8. The GER was about $250 and the Coan was $600.

I have run Turbo Action and Luppo Dynamic converters over the years and both worked very good for me. Right now I have a Luppo Dynamic 9.5 street/strip conveter in my 63 and its worked great since 2006 when I put the car on the road and its still working good now. Ron

I have had tci, b&m, pro torque, frank luppo, a-1, and Lenny. The Lenny was by far the best converter of the bunch.
