I am assuming that the word "correct" means correct, if it does then this is where you need to go:

Nice to see that someone else realizes that the brightly polished "gold plated" barrels are totally incorrect way of restoring these motors.

Replenishing fresh zinc plating from the factory was only a concept. Yes, as long as it had color, that was good enough. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder with restoration work. What then, bolt it onto a "factory correct" triple base and triple clear coat fire wall?

Dude...it's clear to me that you don't know anything about electroplating at all.....just another Mopar know it all .....

Never use “correct” with Mopar.
Does anybody have a picture of a day 1 wiper motor, I haven’t seen one. So how do you judge what is correct? Remember these are 40 years old and even on a survivor car they will have changed appearance. Open up an NOS motor and you'll be surprised at the shine on the on the inside. Re-plate an untouched original barrel and see what you get. Let it set on a car for a few years and watch it turn a different shade of color. Plating process have changed over the years, thanks to the EPA.
Some of these motors have pronounced grind marks on them others are smooth and some still have weld and cold roll marks visible. You can’t duplicate these qualities when you start out with a barrel that is not perfect.
All of these vendors do great work so in the end do as Jules said “do you research” and use who you feel provides you with the product that fits your expectations

My post was NOT pointed at anyone only to inform on the differences encountered with these motors

I am well aware of what they looked like new, I have owned many NOS ones that were still in their original boxes that hadn't seen deterioration. I am also aware of the color variances because of how polluted the clear zinc was and how polluted the dichromate dip was. You can be sure the vendors for Chrysler used some pretty polluted chemicals. I have never used anyones "services" because I have always restored my own motors (before anyone had a service for it). I buy an NOS 70-73 C-body motor on Ebay because they are cheap with the incorrect part number, I've paid avg of $65. then buy an NOS switch plate, usually $25. Replate the cars original barrel for about $15 and reassemble with new Glyptal paint slopped on the wiring connectors. Total investment $100.
Attached is a pic of NOS wiper motor barrels on the left and replated ones on the right that I have done.
And yes the glossy clear coated engine bays are inacurate as well.

Sometimes the dealer parts wasn't the same as assembly line parts, sometimes. Look that the electronic voltage regulators. :two cents:

That is true, some off the counter parts were not quite the same as OE. But it is a good starting point and can, in some case be use for reference purposes. Of course when you have takin appart and restored thousands of wiper motors as Jules Bruce and Kim did, it give you a very good idea of what they should look like . In the end as long as you are happy with the results that what's count.
