I was looking through some boxes of parts and found I may not be thrilled with my positive battery cable.
Does anyone have a good source for quality battery cables?
I thought I picked up a "good" piece but after further review, I may not have.
Shouldnt the cable have different colored red cables at the terminal? Im working on a 70 B body with a wedge.
TIA!

If it has to be OEM Gold correct, NOS will be your best choice for the closest replacement, exect to spend some $$$...even the rebops are priced all over the place...try Dixie parts for the best price on a quality replacement

Chrysler parts book lists part# 2926085 for '70 B body with BB (same part# also shown for '68 & '69). Bill Rolik has one described as "concours-correct " for $137. Maybe compare price and photo to ones sold by Moparts sponsors?

If by "different colored red cables" you mean two shades of red, I have not heard of that.

For documentation of two different shades of red, go to:

http://www.iccahome.org/

Click on "Engine Compartment", and scroll 3/4 down page to blue '70 GTX battery cable and click on this image.

"Original positive battery cable: The small wire is brighter red in color than the large wire."

Restorer Jeff Lilly has said to watch out for cables that are normal O.D. but copper undersized - the plastic sheath is extra thick to fool the buyer...

You really have to troll ebay if you want NOS, knowing the P/N will help plenty too.

Kent; thanks for the info. Another bit of Mopar trivia learned!

IIRC, 2926085 is the over the counter replacement for the pos battery cable. 2926754 (which does not show up in partsbooks, at least it doesn't in my 70) is the cable that was installed on 69 & 70 b bodies 383/440.

Badalson wrote an article about this not too long ago.

1969 and 1970 B body are like cables ,,but 1968 was different

Finding a true NOS B body cable is going to be like finding hens teeth

Megaparts and RPM Restoration parts carries the same cable I used to stock.

Dixie carries the same cable as Frank Badalson if I remember right,,pretty sure it's the one made by M+H

Avoid the one made by Antique Battery and the one made by Goodmark.( IF,,, they even still make it ) Both were severly undersized gauge wire and will cause issues down the road

Whats different about the 68 cable? I have an NOS one like the split starter connection cable that is in the Rolik link I bought a long time ago.

That is the difference.68 used the split design at the starter motor.69 & 70 used a connector that was molded as one piece. In the parts book they all share the same part# 68-70.

Thanks , I didn't know that I figured it was a cable made in the 80's .
