I am trying to set up my six pack after I get back from my deployment to the Middle East. I am going to start ordering some parts (carbs, spacers,Promax metering plates,ect...) I was looking at the Holley 440 carbs from summit and was wondering if there is better options out there? Below is what I have so far. Please help point me in the right direction.

Very nice engines!

I am interested in the responses you get on the carb recommendations, too.

Yes, look for the old DC mechanical 6 PAC setup that outflows the stock setup by about 200 CFM's and also you won't need to buy metering and base plates. My setup rocks .. just getting a wide band this winter to dial it in next spring! Here is all the info and the rebuild. Good luck!

I'd really like to see how this engine runs with the mod man! Are you using a auto or manual ? I think the auto is more forgiving with a mechanical setup, I can floor it with no bog or stumble. I'm running a 9.5" dynamic that flashes at 4,400 rpm. The carbs usually go for around $800 or so in good used condition if you can find them. Keep us posted!

I started looking for the Direct Connection carbs. I bet this is gonna be like finding a needle in a haystack. If you guys know anybody who might be selling some let me know.

I've seen a couple sets for sale in the last year or so, you should be able to find a set. I think these carbs are your best bet performance and price wise, I'm very happy!!!

Car started and ran great right from the start, No springs, metering plates, base plates to change out or modify!

Not sure yet about a auto or manual. I am car shopping right now for something to put this thing in.

TMP carbs sells a ford mechanical setup similar to the old DC carbs.

I am planning on using this on the street 95% of the time. A lot of people say use vacuum secondary carbs on the street? Will the mechanical secondary carbs have decent street manners? What are the pros and cons of both?

With the progressive linkage , it should have good street manners.

I have mechanicals (4782,4783) on mine. No problem on the street. You will have to make fuel lines and linkage unless the carbs you find come with them. I had to make 3/8" thick spacers to go between the carbs and the aircleaner for fuel line clearance at the front carb.

I have No idea how streetable the Modman intake is.

The Ford mechanicals are significantly smaller than the 4782 4783 carbs. Might work great on a small engine.

Barry Grant also made some mechanical carbs that were a lot smaller.

On my setup I have what I think is the linkage these came with when ordered from DC/ hustle stuff. I have the outboards kicking in when the center is about 40% open. I can drive all day on just the center. On the expressway It will go to 75 mph or so with the center at that 40% or so. At that point you will feel the extra resistance in the pedal... Push a little farther and BOOM your flying !!! You can see the linkage better in that link I posted
