I know they have the lower hose come out on the opposite side but otherwise will they work? I have a summit aluminum housing I really want to use on my 400. Thanks for the info!

I have the housing from my old 400 on my 440. I think they are identical and the different inlet/outlet is for different body styles.

the outlet change was year related not engine related... post 72 440s got same water pump housing than 400.

so go ahead, you can use either on any year, and simply match the radiator and steering pump brackets.

The only problem could be usen earlier block into a late body keeping late setup, since the earlier block doesn't have the provision for the steering pump bracket bolt.
