I'm going to do a pan drop on the 727 of my 68 Charger to replace the gasket and filter.

I will of course run through the gears and measure the dipstick in neutral, but I was just wondering about how many quarts I will need to add after a pan drop?

Also, it's a pretty simple procedure I assume right? No gotchas?

I'd think several qts would get you close. I would check/clean the pan for debris (especially metal) and adj the band while you are in there/have access. I'd see what you have now for lever clearance (taking/keeping good notes is always a good habit) then adj it & also drain the TC is it has a drain plug. EDIT I hear the MP pan gasket is VG (& pricey). A person could consider a cheaper one & make sure the pan rails are good/surfaces brake kleened/crisscross torqued in multiple steps

If you aren't draining the converter put is about 4 quarts and then warm up and check in Neutral. fill to full line. But if you aren't draining the converter you are wasting your money to just drop and drain the pan and change filter. There is a big quantity of contaminated fluid left in the converter. At least spin the converter to check if it has a drain and if so drain the fluid too. Won't get all the gunk out but better than nothing.
