Doug,

I am pretty sure that he would need a core for the lightweight parts he is making, but Bob can elaborate on that. The K frame he is illustrating in the picture is an early version like the one in your car. It is a stock K Frame that is just being trimmed up and even strengthened with lighter chrome-moly. All attachment points stay the same as stock but just lightened. It appears that it is going to be somewhere around a 20+lb difference for the K Frame. Bob can make lightened CM steering shaft, strut rods and draglink for you guys that have to run stock pieces (class rules) or just like the stock look for appearance purposes.

When you start weighing all those parts the lightening makes a big difference. I am sure Bob will be able to give specifics but I would say 40-50 pounds from the front end while keeping the stock look for nostalgia series or maxwedge type racing.

The main reason the stock K frames are so big and heavy is they have to carry the weight of the engine.

When you racers or even some street car guys go to a motor plate the K fram is only used to hold the steering box and idler arm and keep the front frame rails straight.

So if you plan on staying with a motor plate this is a great way to take some weight off the front and truly is a bolt on deal.

its a shiney piece of aluminum that mounts to front of motor then attaches to the frame rails. supports the enigne instead of stock motor mounts.

I am pumped, my Spartans just knocked off Texas down in Texas

I think i need a motorplate to stabilize my head, it needs to be about 3/4 inch thick billet

OK heres the finished k frame.
it weighed in at 21 lbs. finished not bad for start out in the 40 lb. range

i sectioned it togther with 1 5/8 moly and struted it with 1" moly

it still retains the same shape far as the drop in the k frame but has 2 more inches of clearance on the sides.

here you go Greg

Bob,

Man you work fast. I shipped the K frame to Bob and a week later look at what he has done. Great customer service and workmanship. I definately would not hesitate to use Bob's services again.

Thanks
