Another problem on my friends 01 Durango. When the parking lights are on for a few minutes, it blows the fuse. Happens every time after a few mins, fuse goes. Checked the ground and that is fine. Sounds like a bad connection somewhere? As it heats up it blows the fuse? Anyone ever have an issue like this with a Durango? No water getting on fuse box and it is the correct amp fuse going in. Any help is appreciated!

If it takes a bit it probably isn't a direct short so I would start looking at bulbs and sockets. Check and see if any of the lights shine differently then the rest and check it first.

Do you have a aftermarket trailer wiring? Lot of shorts back there.

There was, we disconnected that as I was thinking the same. It still blew the fuse after we removed it.

Where did you disconnect? check the wiring routing esp. near the bumper underneath.

It was rigged at the left taillight, it was an aftermarket trailer connection in which someone just wrapped the wires around existing wires and then covered them with tape. I thought once we took that out it would solve the issue, but nope.

Check the owners manual for other things on the same fuse. Its odd that it takes awhile to blow a fuse.normally a short will pop a fuse instantly. Any body work done recently? There is a connector in the LF wheel well you could disconnect to rule out a short from that point back. Turn the wheel to the right and near the bottom under the fender shield you can see it.(not your case but they corrode alot.
